[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Park Chang-hoon, who sparked controversy by saying on the United Future Party's official YouTube broadcast that "President Moon Jae-in should eat free meals in prison after his term," expressed regret on the 1st.

On that day, Park said through the United Future Party's official YouTube channel 'Oreun Sori' segment 'News Show Future,' "I would like to say a few words regarding yesterday's controversy. I express regret for the somewhat unrefined remarks made in the video recorded and broadcast yesterday."

He continued, "I fully understand and regret the controversy ahead of the election," adding, "I will do my best to work hard until the end for the United Future Party's victory in the general election."

Earlier, the day before, Park said on 'News Show Future,' "When (President Moon Jae-in's) term ends, he should eat free meals for a long time," and added, "Aren't eco-friendly free meals provided in every prison?"

At the end of the broadcast, he again criticized the Moon Jae-in administration, saying, "Wouldn't it be right for President Moon Jae-in to say now, 'I was wrong,' 'I will step down from power immediately,' 'I will resign from the presidency. So please don't make me pay for my sins'?" Following the controversy, the United Future Party deleted the video.
