Samsung Electronics Wins Top Award at the 2020 ENERGY STAR Program Hosted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Expansion of 'Highest Efficiency' Grade Continues... 33 Models Earned Energy Star 'Highest Efficiency' Grade Last Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Samsung Electronics has been recognized by the U.S. government for its efforts in expanding energy-efficient products and reduction activities.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 1st that it received the highest award, the "Sustained Excellence Award," at the "2020 ENERGY STAR" program hosted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The ENERGY STAR award is given by the U.S. government to about 20,000 companies and organizations in the environmental and energy sectors, evaluating their use of ENERGY STAR certification, external promotion, and marketing excellence.

Samsung Electronics is expanding the ENERGY STAR "Most Efficient" rating, which is awarded to products with the highest energy-saving effects among ENERGY STAR certified models. Last year, 33 models received the Most Efficient rating.

Samsung Electronics is actively working to publicly emphasize the importance of energy-efficient products. On Samsung Electronics' U.S. website, consumers can easily find energy-efficient products through product introduction pages that indicate ENERGY STAR certification status and provide a separate filtering function.

A Samsung Electronics official stated, "Samsung Electronics will continue efforts not only to reduce energy consumption but also to develop eco-friendly products considering the overall environment, including resource circulation and the use of eco-friendly materials, in line with global trends."

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics has prepared separate benefits in line with the "Top Efficiency Home Appliance Purchase Cost Rebate Program" implemented by the Korea Energy Agency on the 23rd of last month. In addition to the government-supported rebate limit of 300,000 KRW for top efficiency home appliances, Samsung Electronics is offering special points worth up to 700,000 KRW. Although not eligible for the rebate, the 'Samsung Grande AI' dryer, the only domestic product with an energy consumption efficiency grade 1, is also offered a special discount benefit worth 120,000 KRW.
