Yongsan-gu Saemaeul Association Delivers 100 'Hope Packages' to Overcome COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Saemaeul Undong Yongsan-gu Branch (President Ji Young-hwan) delivered 100 'Hope Packages' worth approximately 2.8 million KRW to the Yongsan Welfare Foundation (Chairman Seung Man-ho) on March 31, wishing for the overcoming of COVID-19.

The delivery ceremony was held in the front yard of the Yongsan Dream Tree Complex Town, attended by five people including Ji Young-hwan, President of the Saemaeul Undong Yongsan-gu Branch; Son Seong-yeol, Chairman of the Saemaeul Leaders Yongsan-gu Council; Han Mi-ae, President of the Yongsan-gu Saemaeul Women's Association; and Kim Yu-tae, Secretary General of the Yongsan Welfare Foundation.

The packages contained nine essential items such as masks, hand sanitizers, and groceries.

President Ji Young-hwan said, "Various sectors nationwide are making great efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19," adding, "We believe we can wisely overcome this crisis."

The foundation plans to distribute the received items to Dream Start households in the district within this week.

Dream Start is a customized integrated case management service that provides cultural experience opportunities to vulnerable children (under 13 years old) and their families, aiming to enhance intimacy among family members and prevent child abuse.

Chairman Seung Man-ho of the foundation said, "The Yongsan-gu Saemaeul Branch and Leaders Council, busy with quarantine activities, have sent these Hope Packages this time," adding, "They will be a great help to vulnerable groups."

The Saemaeul Leaders Yongsan-gu Council has also been supporting COVID-19 quarantine efforts since February. As of the end of March, they have disinfected about 600 multi-use facilities including community centers, bus stops, overpass elevators, and bank lobbies.
