According to NHK on the 31st, a tally of announcements from all 47 prefectures nationwide shows that 2,015 people have been confirmed infected across Japan. This includes those identified during airport quarantine and those returning on charter flights.
Adding 712 infected individuals from the cruise ship where a cluster infection occurred, the total number of infections in Japan reaches 2,727. By region, Tokyo Metropolis has 443 confirmed cases, Osaka Prefecture 216, and Hokkaido 176. On this day, with the first case confirmed in Yamagata Prefecture, the number of prefectures with confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 44 out of 47 nationwide.
The death toll stands at 70, including 59 domestic infections and 11 cruise ship passengers. The number of recovered and discharged patients totals 1,027, comprising 424 domestically infected individuals and 603 cruise ship passengers.
