[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) held a national gratitude event on the 1st of next month to commemorate the transition to a national position.
According to Jeonnam Fire on the 31st, 4,006 local fire officers belonging to Jeonnam Province will be converted to national positions.
The term "local" will be removed from the rank titles of fire officers. Although the status of fire officers will be national, the organization will remain affiliated with the city and province as before, and the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters will be elevated from the existing Jeonnam Province department level to a department directly under the governor.
Above all, with this transition to national positions, on-site response beyond jurisdictional boundaries will be expanded.
In case of disasters, the nearest dispatch team and the jurisdictional dispatch team will simultaneously respond based on the distance to the accident site, regardless of city or province distinctions, enabling rapid response.
Additionally, the nationwide fire officer recruitment exam will be conducted by the Fire Agency Chief, and the currently dual system of personnel management between central and local governments will be unified and reorganized into a standard personnel management system (e-Saram).
In the future, appeals against disciplinary actions will be reviewed by the Personnel Innovation Office's Appeal Review Committee, and for re-examination requests or grievances of fire officers at the rank of Fire Captain or higher, the Central Grievance Review Committee will conduct the review.
Meanwhile, to commemorate the nationalization of fire officers, Jeonnam Fire Headquarters will hold a lighting event after sunset at Hanwha The Island (Forena) in Yeosu on this day.
Through the message "National Position 119," which expresses gratitude to the public who supported the transition to national positions, they plan to convey their commitment and aspiration to provide better fire services in the future.
Furthermore, on the 1st of next month, Jeonnam Fire Headquarters will deliver thank-you placard messages from each fire station via their official SNS (Instagram), and will provide residential fire alarms on a first-come, first-served basis to citizens who leave supportive comments on this content.
Ma Jaeyoon, Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, said, "I thank everyone who has worked hard for the nationalization of fire officers," and added, "We will do our best to protect the public from various disasters, and demonstrate that the development of firefighting can raise the nation's safety index."
