[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The United Future Party sharply criticized pro-Jo Guk remarks from figures within the ruling coalition, in relation to the 'Jo Guk incident.'

Kim Woo-seok, the full-time spokesperson for the United Future Party, pointed out on the 31st in a statement, "The 'Jo Guk revival election' by the Moon Jae-in administration has reached a state that is unbearable to watch."

He criticized former Blue House Public Office Discipline Secretary Choi Kang-wook, saying, "Not only Lee Jae-myung, who appealed for sympathy votes by claiming human rights violations against Jo Guk, but now even suspects related to Jo Guk's criminal charges do not hesitate to threaten the prosecution investigating them," referring to Choi's remarks in the media that "Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife are the first targets of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO)."

Spokesperson Kim said, "It is a statement that makes one doubt their ears," adding, "The real first target of the CIO pointed to a political rival as the 'No. 1 investigation target,' which is an unprecedented case of audacity."

Kim Jong-in, the overall election committee chairman of the United Future Party, also said at candidate Tae Young-ho (Tae Gu-min)'s office in Gangnam Gap, Seoul, in the morning, "There was an incident last October going back and forth in front of the prosecution office and Gwanghwamun Square," and asked, "Can we really think such an incident could happen in a fair society?"

He pointed out that former President Moon's past promise that "the process will be fair, and the outcome will be just" was not kept in relation to the Jo Guk incident.

Co-chairman Park Hyung-joon also mentioned former Secretary Choi's remarks during a morning meeting, saying, "The statement that Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol is the first target of the CIO investigation reveals the true nature of why the CIO law was created," and added, "Along with former Ministry of Justice Human Rights Bureau Chief Hwang Hee-seok's comment calling this election the 'Jo Guk rehabilitation election,' it exposes the awareness of key figures in the administration."

He said, "They intend to create a CIO that punishes those who criticized Jo Guk," and added, "Those who incited the 'dogfight national movement' have gathered in the Open Democratic Party, focusing on reviving Jo Guk."
