[Asia Economy Reporter Jonggil Lee] An electronic ticket inspection system will be introduced at Changdeokgung and Deoksugung Palaces. This is to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Division announced on the 31st that from the 1st of next month, they will pilot an electronic ticket inspection system at Changdeokgung and Deoksugung where visitors and staff do not have to come into contact. Visitors will scan the barcode and QR code printed on their tickets with a scanner, allowing staff to check the results via computer. Previously, staff checked the tickets and tore off a portion before returning them to visitors. The Palace and Royal Tombs Division plans to review the pilot results and improve system stability to apply it to all palaces and Joseon royal tombs. An official stated, "The electronic ticket inspection is a contactless method that can create a safe viewing environment and also speeds up entry."
