[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Jonghyo] Busan Facilities Corporation announced on the 31st that starting from the 1st of next month, it will operate a research and development (R&D) proposal window targeting urban infrastructure facilities managed by the corporation.
First, to ensure efficient facility maintenance, the corporation will accelerate the introduction of advanced technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution era such as robots, drones, virtual reality, 3D printing, dioramas, smart cities, autonomous driving, cloud, mobile, IoT, big data, and AI. Additionally, by verifying the performance of public infrastructure, it will actively participate in changes in the facility maintenance field, including supporting local companies in pioneering markets for excellent new technologies.
To use the corporation’s urban infrastructure as a field demonstration site, proposers can download the form from the 'Research and Development Proposal Window' on the corporation’s website, prepare a proposal, and submit it via email. Afterwards, the proposal review committee evaluates the proposals based on four criteria including innovativeness and business feasibility, and successful applicants can receive support for the field demonstration site. Upon completion of the demonstration, proposers must submit a research result report and undergo a final performance evaluation by the demonstration evaluation committee.
Choo Yeonggil, Director of Busan Facilities Corporation, stated, "As the first public institution in the Busan area to establish an R&D field demonstration (Test Bed) platform, we will actively take the lead in realizing social value by utilizing and developing new technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution era and spreading them in facility maintenance."
