Gangnam-gu and Police Station Jointly Conduct Unannounced Daily Checks for Self-Quarantined Individuals

Unannounced Visits Once Daily Starting the 30th... Unauthorized Departures Subject to 'Zero Tolerance' Prosecution

Gangnam-gu and Police Station Jointly Conduct Unannounced Daily Checks for Self-Quarantined Individuals

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) has been thoroughly managing self-quarantine subjects by conducting unannounced visits once a day in cooperation with local police stations starting from the 30th.

The district has established a cooperative system with Gangnam and Suseo Police Stations, where monitoring personnel (district office staff) and police officers jointly conduct unannounced visits once a day to self-quarantined individuals. If phone contact is not established or the individual is not at the quarantine location, CCTV and other means are used immediately to verify any violation.

Previously, the district applied a ‘zero-tolerance policy’ and reported two individuals who violated self-quarantine without valid reasons.

Additionally, Gangnam-gu is directly monitoring the health status of those who have not installed the ‘Self-Quarantine Safety Protection App’ by phone more than four times a day and conducting unannounced visits more than twice for inspection.

Kim Seok-rae, Director of the Disaster Safety Division, stated, “According to the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, from the 5th of next month, failure to comply with self-quarantine rules will result in imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million won. We ask for active cooperation with self-quarantine despite the difficulties, and violators who leave without permission will be reported to protect the health and safety of residents.”
