Gyeonggi-do Builds City Gas Pipeline Network in 580 Areas... 594km

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will install an additional 594 km of city gas pipelines by next year to expand the supply of city gas. Accordingly, 580 areas in the province, including Godeung District in Suwon City and Mipyeong-ri, Wonsam-myeon, Yongin City, will receive city gas supply by next year.

Gyeonggi Province established and announced on the 31st the "Two-Year Construction Plan for City Gas Supply Facilities" based on construction plans submitted by six city gas operators in the province, including Samchully Co., Ltd., in accordance with the "City Gas Business Act."

The current related law requires the governor to establish and announce a construction plan for gas supply facilities covering two years, including the current year, by the end of March each year.

This year, a total project cost of 114.1 billion KRW will be invested to build 294 km of city gas pipelines. The areas include 322 locations such as the newly constructed residential-commercial complex at 179-3, Simgok-dong, Bucheon City, and the Euntong Industrial Complex area in Yeoncheon-eup, Yeoncheon County, covering 278,415 households.

Next year, a total project cost of 121.4 billion KRW will be invested to install an additional 300 km of pipelines. The areas include 258 locations such as the 2nd phase of Seohu District in Suwon City and Unjeong 3 District in Paju City, covering 125,336 households.

The province expects that city gas supply will be possible for about 400,000 households if the installation proceeds as planned.

Detailed supply plans and areas can be checked at the respective city or county offices, city gas companies, or on the Gyeonggi Province website (Information by Field → Fire/Disaster Safety → Gas Supply and Safety).

Kim Kyung-seop, Director of the Climate Energy Policy Division of the province, said, "The pipeline construction plans of six city gas operators have been concretely confirmed for the two years until next year," adding, "Whether new city gas supply will be available due to pipeline installation can be confirmed with the gas-related departments of the respective city or county or the city gas operators in the residential area."
