Donation Chain Continues Instead of Outdoor Activities in Gwanak-gu... Masks and hand sanitizers donated by the Misung-dong mother and child to the police substation

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] In Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee), the series of donations from residents amid the frozen daily life due to COVID-19 has become a hot topic.

First, on the 20th, members of Seoul Pyeongan Church in Jungang-dong collected offerings and donated 250Kg of rice and 125Kg of kimchi to help low-income families struggling due to COVID-19, delivering messages of encouragement and hope to overcome the difficult crisis together.

Then, on the 24th, a single-parent family in Misung-dong, classified as lower income, donated 26 pieces of bread to be given to those unable to go outside due to COVID-19. On the 26th, a 90-year-old senior resident of Sinwon-dong also donated 2 million won in cash to be given to those suddenly facing hardship due to COVID-19.

Many residents also participated in the 'Good Mask Campaign.' In Misung-dong, a self-employed resident donated 58 medical dental masks and 100 mask filters, saying that although these are difficult times for everyone, they hope this will help even a little.

Additionally, a mother and child donated 10 KF80 masks, hand sanitizer, and a bag of snacks to the Misung Police Substation, leaving a note saying, “Please deliver these to those who have difficulty obtaining masks! Sorry we cannot give more.”

The 'Good Mask Campaign' continued in Sinwon-dong as well. At Dongsan Church in Sinwon-dong, church members donated 500 sets of ‘Love Masks’ containing 2 handmade cotton masks, 30 filters, snacks, and notes, expressing their hope that love will be delivered to vulnerable groups experiencing loneliness due to social distancing.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I sincerely thank all the residents who voluntarily participate in social distancing and continue sharing with neighbors in need during these difficult times caused by COVID-19,” adding, “With the warm hearts of our residents, we will do our best to overcome COVID-19 as soon as possible and restore a peaceful and safe daily life.”
