Changwon City Expands Developmental Rehabilitation Services for Children with Disabilities

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 31st that it will expand the developmental rehabilitation service project for children with disabilities.

This project provides rehabilitation services during the appropriate growth period for registered children under 18 years old with visual, auditory, intellectual, autism, or brain lesion disabilities, offering education suitable for cognitive, communication, and adaptive behaviors, and supports improvement in mental and sensory functions as well as behavioral development.

The application criteria are households with children with disabilities whose median income is 180% or less, and applications can be submitted to the local eup, myeon, or dong office from April 1 to 10.

In response to requests from families of children with developmental disabilities to expand the project, the city actively proposed to related departments, secured an additional budget of 200 million KRW, and decided to expand the project so that more children with disabilities can receive services.

Jung Si-young, Director of Welfare and Women’s Affairs of Changwon City, said, "To reduce the economic burden on families with children with disabilities, we will do our best to secure the budget so that children with disabilities can receive services in a timely manner, considering project volume analysis and civil complaints."
