[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chae-seok] The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced on the 30th that it will conduct the '2020 Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation' for 264 public institutions this year.
The Commission has been conducting the anti-corruption policy evaluation annually since 2002 to enhance the integrity of public institutions at all levels and promote anti-corruption activities.
This year, the Commission plans to evaluate the performance of each institution's anti-corruption activities based on 20 indicators related to the establishment and execution of anti-corruption plans, achievements, and dissemination.
The Commission decided to place particular emphasis on evaluating the dissemination activities of anti-corruption and reform policies of each public institution.
In this regard, a new indicator was created to assess whether excellent anti-corruption policies promoted by public institutions were disclosed to the public and shared with other institutions.
Additionally, the Commission will reflect the anti-corruption commitment of high-ranking public officials in the evaluation results and expand the evaluation weight on their completion rate of integrity education.
High-ranking public officials refer to the Senior Executive Service in central administrative agencies and heads of institutions and executives or higher in public institutions.
Furthermore, the evaluation of basic indicators such as the establishment of anti-corruption plans and efforts to improve corruption-prone areas will be strengthened.
Im Yoon-joo, Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau at the Commission, said, "The integrity leadership of heads of institutions and high-ranking public officials is needed more than ever," and urged, "Each institution should take special interest in promoting anti-corruption and integrity policies and lead by example."
