[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Haenam County (Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan) announced on the 30th that it will raise the level of 'social distancing' to a higher stage and implement it with high intensity to overcome COVID-19.

Despite nationwide social distancing, due to the recent consecutive COVID-19 confirmed cases in nearby areas, all vehicles entering Haenam County will be inspected starting from the evening of the 31st to block the inflow into the local community.

The fever screening locations will be operated 24 hours a day at the entrance of Yeongsin Village in Okcheon on National Road No. 13 entering from Gwangju, and at Samho Intersection (Sani Embankment) on National Local Road No. 49 entering from Mokpo.

However, vehicles coming from Jindo and Wando directions will be allowed to pass as those local governments are conducting fever screenings. Those with a body temperature exceeding 37.5 degrees Celsius will be moved to the county health center’s screening clinic for examination and will enter self-quarantine for 6 to 8 hours while awaiting test results.

In addition, the Wusuyeong Five-Day Market, which is frequently visited by outsiders, will be closed on the 4th to control access. Previously, the largest Haenam-eup Five-Day Market also decided to close consecutively on the 1st and 6th of next month.

As the weather warms, fever screenings will be conducted for all visitors at major tourist sites frequently visited by tourists. In particular, although facility operations have been suspended, outdoor access to the Dinosaur Fossil Site, Wusuyeong Tourist Site, and Duryun Miro Park will be completely closed and access will be controlled.

Myeong Hyun-gwan, Governor of Haenam County, said, “I thank the residents who are actively cooperating with social distancing, and I believe that the fact that no abnormalities have occurred in Haenam so far is the result of advanced civic awareness.” He added, “However, since the external situation is progressing seriously, we plan to implement even stronger social distancing measures to ensure the safety of residents. We ask for your understanding and active cooperation despite some inconvenience.”
