Cloudberry Farm in Gimhae selected as a recipient for the 'Social Farm' development support program.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 30th that it has selected five 'social farms' as support targets, including Cloudberry Farm (Gimhae), Daegam Agricultural Cooperative Corporation (Gimhae), Naehwa Ranch (Yangsan), Darakgol Farm (Hamyang), and Byeolbitdameun Village (Hamyang), and will begin actively fostering 'social agriculture.'
Social agriculture is one of the 100 national tasks of the Moon Jae-in administration and refers to activities that provide programs such as care, self-support, healing, and education using agriculture for local people in need, such as the disabled and the elderly. Social farms are farms operated by agricultural management entities that carry out these programs.
To foster social agriculture, the province accepted applications for the social farm fostering support project from January 31 to February 21. Among 16 farms, five farms were finally selected as support targets through document screening and on-site evaluation.
Each selected farm will receive 100 million KRW, totaling 500 million KRW in support. These farms can use the funds for developing and promoting social agriculture operation programs, farm management, and facility improvements.
A Gyeongsangnam-do official said, "We plan to promote the activation of social agriculture to achieve regional revitalization and social integration by utilizing the multifunctional roles of agriculture," adding, "We will systematically discover and foster five diverse and distinctive social farms every year."
