Co-development of a Stress Self-Management App
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Korea Institute of Design Promotion announced on the 30th that it will tackle social issues through non-face-to-face telecare services and stress management applications.
This service and app were developed in response to the need for social distancing to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). It was judged that the necessity for non-face-to-face social welfare services would be strengthened through ICT-based remote health management support services.
The Institute plans to support the use of Demand Co., Ltd.'s telecare system, which can remotely check the safety of the elderly, and a stress self-management app. Telecare is a social welfare system utilizing ICT that allows monitoring of elderly people at a distance via the internet, TV, PC, or mobile phones. It is currently implemented and in use in Dobong-gu, Seoul, and Daedeok-gu, Daejeon.
The Institute and Demand previously developed the stress self-management app 'InMind' as part of the government's social problem-solving research and development (R&D). The Institute plans to provide 3,000 copies of the InMind app for stress self-management to social workers in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions on the 1st of next month, in cooperation with the Korea Association of Social Workers.
A representative of the Institute stated, "InMind helps maintain psychological stability even in isolated environments by utilizing various cognitive therapy programs such as healing sounds, breathing, and meditation." They added, "We also plan to support the use of the non-face-to-face service system 'Well Family House,' developed through social problem-solving R&D for elderly dementia and fall prevention, so that it can be applied in various fields."
