[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon stated on the 29th that Shin Hyun-young, the number one proportional representative candidate of the Democratic Citizens' Party and a family medicine professor at Myongji Hospital, "was only speaking common sense" in relation to her past criticism of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk.
On the same day, Jin posted on his Facebook, saying, "The problem is that many people refuse to accept this common sense, and half of the Democratic Party members and supporters are likely in such a state."
He added, "Among them, those with milder symptoms may accept the party's decisions despite their dissatisfaction, but those in severe condition are different," criticizing, "You can't accept Judas, who betrayed Jesus, as an apostle."
He further said, "It is a conflict between the anti-Cho Kuk party and the pro-Cho Kuk party, a clash between party politics and fandom politics," and added, "Elections should be conducted according to the grammar of party politics, but fandom politics has been conveniently used so far, causing side effects."
He continued, "Since those appointed by the party will be replaced by those who were removed by the party, fandom has ultimately distorted the grammar of party politics," and added, "Of course, after the election, the opposing and defending parties will eventually become one, but this will cause ongoing problems within the Democratic Party."
Meanwhile, according to media reports, Professor Shin was known to have criticized on a podcast broadcast last August that "(Cho Min, daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk) is a typical case of receiving special favors from a good family."
In this regard, some supporters of the Democratic Party who have backed former Minister Cho have criticized Professor Shin's remarks on online communities and are mentioning her eligibility as a proportional representative candidate.
