Hyundai L&C Introduces Interior Wall Material 'Bodak Wall'

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Hyundai L&C announced on the 30th that it will launch a new concept interior board (wall material) called ‘Bodaq Wall’.

Bodaq Wall is a new type of wall material consisting of a 6mm thick board (magnesium or calcium carbonate) wrapped with an eco-friendly PET film. It offers a variety of design patterns across six categories and 30 types, including marble series such as Arabescato, stone series such as Jeju Stone, and wood series.

Since it is installed using a dry construction method with a dedicated adhesive and molding, it requires less time and cost compared to traditional complex wall finishing construction.

Thanks to its simple installation method, it also has the advantage of low maintenance burden.

Bodaq Wall has been certified for ‘quasi-noncombustible (materials that do not easily catch fire)’ performance by the Korea Fire Institute (KFI).

It is also aligned with eco-friendly trends, having undergone various quality verifications such as eco-friendliness (building materials), radiation levels below standard limits, and non-detection of harmful substances from major domestic testing institutions including the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute.

The new product utilizes eco-friendly PET film technology and various design pattern techniques developed for interior films such as the existing ‘Bodaq Tile’. PET is a premium material widely used in manufacturing baby tableware and high-end furniture finishes due to its zero emission of harmful substances. It is more expensive than general PVC-based materials and is known as an eco-friendly material from which raw materials can be extracted through recycled PET bottles.

A Hyundai L&C official said, “Since high-quality wall material installation is possible simply by assembling and attaching, not only professional companies but also general customers who prefer self-interior can easily use it as DIY materials. In the case of products applied with calcium carbonate boards, the waterproof function is excellent, making it highly versatile enough to be used in humid spaces such as bathrooms.”
