Chungnam Creates 2,533 Jobs in the Forestry Sector This Year

[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced on the 30th that it will create 2,533 jobs in 14 forestry sectors this year.

The creation of jobs in the forestry sector focuses on expanding public workforce in safety areas closely related to citizens' lives such as forest disasters, strengthening the public nature of forest services, and laying the foundation for fostering new industries. The total budget to be invested for this is 46.2 billion KRW.

The province will first hire 1,540 people (18.5 billion KRW) to work in the three major forest disaster areas: forest fires, landslides, and forest pests and diseases.

Additionally, based on training specialized personnel such as forest knowledge transmission, hiking guidance, and arboretum coordinators, the province plans to strengthen the public nature of forest services.

Furthermore, the province will focus on projects such as the unused biomass collection team (160 people) and urban forest managers (71 people) to realize the utilization of forest resources, a circular economy, and sustainable and intensive management of urban forest sites.

Lee Sang-chun, Director of the Forestry Resources Division of the province, said, “We will establish a circular economy system for forest resources and expand income growth and job creation through people-centered policies. At the same time, we will strive to realize an economic forest capable of creating jobs.”
