Premium Distilled Soju Combining 100% Domestic Rice with Lotte Liquor's 54 Years of Distillation Expertise
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Lotte Chilsung Beverage announced on the 30th that it will launch the authentic distilled soju "Daejangbu 23," made with 100% Korean rice, in early April.
The newly introduced "Daejangbu 23" is an authentic distilled soju made from rice polished three times using 100% domestically produced rice, minimizing off-flavors and impurities. It undergoes a long-term fermentation at low temperature for 18 days before distillation, resulting in a rich taste and aroma.
In particular, "Daejangbu 23" softens the characteristic rough taste of distilled soju by applying Lotte Liquor's 54 years of traditional distillation technology know-how and a freezing filtration method. It is blended with oak distilled liquor aged for three years, featuring a subtle oak scent and smooth finish.
"Daejangbu 23," initially launched at large discount stores, has an alcohol content of 23 degrees, comes in a 375ml bottle, and is priced at 5,000 KRW per bottle.
A Lotte Liquor official said, "As consumer interest in distilled soju continues to grow, we are introducing Daejangbu 23 following the existing Daejangbu and Daejangbu 21. The launch of 'Daejangbu 23' will be another opportunity to expand the choices for consumers who favor distilled soju."
Meanwhile, Lotte Liquor has been stirring up the domestic distilled soju market by launching the high-quality premium distilled soju "Daejangbu" in May 2016 and the popular distilled soju "Daejangbu 21" with a lower price point through the use of shared bottles in November of the same year.
