KT Olleh TV Offers 'EBS 2-Week Live Special Lectures'

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT announced on the 29th that starting from the 30th, it will provide a real-time broadcast service of the ‘EBS 2-Week Live Special Lectures’ on Olleh TV for elementary, middle, and high school students whose school openings have been postponed due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

‘EBS 2-Week Live Special Lectures’ is a program produced by EBS targeting 12 grades across elementary, middle, and high school to minimize learning gaps for students. The special lectures have been available on the EBS online site since the 23rd and will continue until the 3rd of next month.

KT will live broadcast the ‘EBS 2-Week Live Special Lectures’ through Olleh TV’s real-time channels starting from the 30th, allowing students to watch on large home TVs with high-definition video. Students can select the channel number corresponding to their grade from channels 301 to 310 on Olleh TV’s live channels. The lectures will be held daily at 9 a.m., following the new semester’s curriculum and the same timetable as schools. EBS textbooks, which serve as lecture materials, can be downloaded for free from the EBS website.

Meanwhile, KT has been operating the ‘Kidsland TV Homeschool’ theme section since the end of last month for households with preschool children aged 3 to 7. Originally, ‘Kidsland TV Homeschool’ was planned to operate until the end of this month, but KT decided to extend it indefinitely until daycare centers and kindergartens reopen.

In ‘Kidsland TV Homeschool,’ viewers can enjoy over 3,700 pieces of the country’s largest content collection, covering areas such as the Nuri Curriculum, English, reading, daily habits, physical play, and art play. Additionally, KT exclusively offers over 700 episodes of the ‘Doosan Donga Baekjeom Series’ for all elementary school grades free of charge, and provides more than 200 parenting counseling contents by Dr. Oh Eun-young and Dr. Seo Cheon-seok for parents facing increased childcare concerns, also free of charge. KT plans to continuously strengthen homeschooling content for infants and toddlers going forward.

Song Jae-ho, Executive Vice President and Head of KT Media Platform Business Division, said, “We have decided to provide the Olleh TV platform free of charge so that parents and elementary, middle, and high school students, who may be feeling anxious about learning gaps due to the continued postponement of school openings, can use the EBS live special lectures stably and conveniently.” He added, “Amid the COVID-19 crisis, KT plans to actively utilize its media assets to minimize inconveniences in the daily lives of the public.”
