[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The number of deaths from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Turkey has surpassed 100.
The Turkish Ministry of Health announced on the 29th (local time) that the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths increased by 16 from the previous day, reaching 108. The total confirmed cases also rose to 7,402, surpassing 7,000.
Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca stated, "In the past 24 hours, 7,641 COVID-19 tests were conducted," adding, "Among them, 1,704 tested positive."
The Turkish government suspended all international flights on the 27th to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and restricted intercity travel using public transportation. Additionally, a school closure order was issued for all schools in Turkey until the 30th of next month. Cafes, cinemas, gyms, and other businesses were also shut down.
