Gwangju City Appoints Lee Gap-jae, Deputy Director of the Board of Audit and Inspection, as New Audit Committee Chairman

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 29th that it has appointed Lee Gap-jae, Deputy Director of the Board of Audit and Inspection, as the new Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Appointee Lee Gap-jae has served in the Special Investigation Bureau's Investigation Division and Mobile Inspection Division of the Board of Audit and Inspection, as well as the 3rd Division Chief of the Audit Request Investigation Team, 2nd Division Chief of the Defense Audit Team, and instructor at the Audit Education Institute.

Gwangju City stated, "Appointee Lee, being a former member of the Board of Audit and Inspection, possesses extensive auditing experience and professionalism, along with a strong sense of public service and leadership, making him the right candidate to serve as Chairman of the Audit Committee."

In particular, based on many years of inspection experience, he is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing public trust in Gwangju's administration through fostering a diligent public service culture via consulting and preventive audits, as well as through measures to prevent corruption and improve integrity.

The Chairman of the Audit Committee will oversee all committee duties, including investigation of petitions, misconduct, and complaints, disposition of audit results, execution of anti-corruption and integrity tasks, and establishment of public service discipline. The term is two years, with possible extension up to five years depending on work performance and achievements.

Gwangju City plans to appoint Lee Gap-jae as Chairman of the Audit Committee in early April after consultations with the Board of Audit and Inspection regarding appointment procedures.
