[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University (President Min Young-don) announced on the 29th that it will extend the period of online lectures (non-face-to-face) for all courses in the first semester of the 2020 academic year until the 17th of next month due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
Previously, Chosun University decided to conduct all lectures for the first semester of the 2020 academic year online until the 3rd of next month, following the recommendation of the Ministry of Education.
However, concerns about COVID-19 virus infection still remain, and additional delays in the opening of elementary, middle, and high schools are being discussed.
Accordingly, Chosun University has proactively decided to extend the online lecture period.
With the additional extension of online lectures, Chosun University will expand administrative and technical support to improve the quality of classes.
The status of online lectures by subject is continuously being monitored, and students' feedback is being collected to make improvements.
For subjects such as experiments, practical training, and skills courses that are difficult to conduct online, flexible measures are being devised to allow concentrated completion at the end of the semester.
In addition, the university plans to thoroughly prepare for face-to-face lectures by strengthening disinfection of campus facilities and individual infection management of faculty and staff.
President Min Young-don said, “We ask for your understanding as this is an unavoidable measure for the health and safety of students. We will do our best to produce and operate online (non-face-to-face) lecture content,” and added, “We look forward to meeting students with bright and healthy appearances on a campus full of spring fragrance as soon as possible.”
