[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises, a policy research institute under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, announced on the 29th that its employees have collectively donated 10 million won to the Korean Red Cross to overcome the national difficulties caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), and that the newly appointed head of the institute will return his salary.
A representative of the Korea Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises stated, "Although it is a small donation, we hope it will be of some help to small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners who are experiencing difficulties, in order to fulfill our social responsibility as a public institution and practice sharing management," adding, "We hope the COVID-19 infection will end soon and the economy will recover."
Meanwhile, Lee Byung-heon, the new director scheduled to take office on April 1, has also decided to return 30% of his monthly salary for four months to participate in the nationwide effort to overcome this unprecedented crisis.
