Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hye announced on the 17th at the Government Seoul Office in Jongno-gu, Seoul, the plan to postpone the third phase of school openings for kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide. The government stated that the opening of all kindergartens and elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide will be postponed for an additional two weeks, from the 23rd of this month to the 6th of next month. A key official from the Blue House, speaking to reporters on the 29th about questions related to the postponement of the school opening, said, "It is difficult for me to explain the atmosphere. There are quite a few stakeholders involved, and it is an issue that could have conflicting views," adding, "I am a bit cautious about mentioning the trends or such aspects. This matter will be decided and announced by the education authorities."
The Blue House did not give a clear answer on whether the April 6 school opening schedule will proceed as planned or be postponed again. However, opinions advocating for postponing the April 6 opening schedule are continuing, especially from the education field. Various solutions, including online school openings, are also being discussed.
