LG Household & Health Care Provides 8 Billion KRW in Cash and Goods to Support COVID-19 Victims

[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] LG Household & Health Care (CEO Cha Seok-yong) is launching comprehensive support efforts to assist local communities, partners, and franchise stores affected by the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Focusing on the special disaster areas of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, the company will donate goods worth approximately 7.2 billion KRW to disaster-vulnerable groups and provide about 800 million KRW in employee wages to nationwide dealerships facing financial difficulties.

On the 30th, LG Household & Health Care announced that it will urgently supply personal hygiene products such as toothpaste and toothbrushes, as well as daily necessities, cosmetics, and beverages to Daegu and Gyeongbuk, which have been declared special disaster areas due to COVID-19.

Separately, LG Household & Health Care is providing small-sized bottled water, portable toiletries, and disinfectant products free of charge every week throughout March to medical staff fighting COVID-19 in Daegu and Gyeongbuk.

LG Household & Health Care is also conducting donation activities for disaster-vulnerable groups, focusing mainly on the elderly who have been most severely affected by COVID-19, as well as children and women. The company is participating in emergency support projects for the elderly in cooperation with the Comprehensive Support Center for the Elderly Living Alone and donating daily necessities and cosmetics to over 650 senior customized care institutions nationwide.

Through organizations such as the National Fundraising Association and People Sharing Hope, LG Household & Health Care plans to support children and women in crisis due to COVID-19, as well as military units participating in overcoming the crisis.

Following support for franchise stores, LG Household & Health Care will also provide operating funds to partner companies. Earlier this month, the company decided to cover 50% of the March rent for about 500 franchise stores of The Face Shop and Nature Collection, and plans to support approximately 800 million KRW in employee wages for direct sales cosmetics dealerships, daily necessities dealerships, and beverage dealerships.

Meanwhile, on the 24th, ‘Nakwoohoe,’ a group of about 120 daily necessities dealership owners nationwide, raised and donated 10 million KRW in love donations to help dealerships in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions.

Previously, LG Household & Health Care supported daily necessities in Chungcheongbuk-do, where Chinese residents from Wuhan temporarily stayed, and donated hand sanitizers worth about 1 billion KRW to assist disaster-vulnerable groups.

Park Heon-young, Executive Director of External Cooperation at LG Household & Health Care, said, “While practicing social distancing, the distance in our hearts must be closer than ever before,” adding, “We will continue to consider support measures that fulfill corporate social responsibility in this unprecedented national crisis.”
