[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] A man in his 20s who recently returned from Thailand has been confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). It has been confirmed that he frequented public places with large crowds, such as department stores, not only in Mokpo, Jeonnam, where he resides, but also in the Gwangju area.
According to Gwangju City and Jeonnam Province on the 29th, Mr. A (25), who lives in Mokpo, tested positive for COVID-19 the day before and was classified as the 9th patient in Jeonnam. After the diagnosis, Mr. A was transferred to Gangjin Medical Center. Two family members who lived with him tested negative, and three friends who had contact with Mr. A are currently under self-quarantine and undergoing testing.
Mr. A reportedly stayed in Thailand from early January and returned to Incheon Airport on the morning of the 26th. On the day of his return, he took an express bus and arrived in Gwangju around 2:30 p.m. Mr. A visited a luxury brand store at Shinsegae Department Store Gwangju Branch, a hair salon in Usan-dong, Buk-gu, and a convenience store in Munheung-dong before visiting a friend's house.
On the 27th, Mr. A visited a PC room and a convenience store in Munheung-dong, stayed at a friend's house, and then took an express bus again at 2:45 p.m. to Mokpo. After arriving in Mokpo, he took a taxi home.
Immediately after returning home, Mr. A visited a public health center for specimen collection but showed no particular symptoms, with a body temperature of 36.5°C. After the test at the health center, Mr. A visited a restaurant, a cafe, a PC room, and a mart in succession before returning home.
Gwangju City and Mokpo City temporarily closed and disinfected the restaurant, cafe, PC room, and mart that Mr. A had visited.
