Song Da-young, Professor at Incheon National University, Appointed as Director of Women's and Family Policy Office in Seoul

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 29th that it has appointed Song Da-young, a professor in the Department of Social Welfare at Incheon University (56, photo), as the Director of the Women's and Family Policy Office. The term is two years starting from the 30th.

Newly appointed Director Song Da-young graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in English Language and Literature, earned a master's degree in Women's Studies from Ewha Womans University, and obtained a doctorate in Social Welfare from the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. She is an expert who has researched the fields of women and family for about 30 years, and is evaluated as the right person to lead women and family policies that citizens can feel, based on her research and policy participation experience in various social policy areas such as women, childcare, and care.

Going forward, she will oversee affairs related to women's and family welfare, including expanding Seoul City's gender-equal wage disclosure system, eliminating the gender wage gap, actively responding to gender-based violence, expanding services to solve childcare and elementary care issues, strengthening support systems for work-family balance, and establishing an inclusive multicultural society foundation.

Director Song said, "Based on my research activities at university, numerous advisory roles, and field experience, I will realize women and family policies that citizens can feel."

The Director of the Women's and Family Policy Office in Seoul City is an open position, and after a public recruitment in January, the selection examination committee composed of external experts and the personnel committee reviewed the candidates.
