Iran Reports 3,076 New COVID-19 Cases in One Day... Sets 'Daily Highest' Record (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Iranian Ministry of Health announced on the 28th (local time) at noon that the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) increased by 3,076 (9.5%↑) from the previous day, reaching 35,408.

This is the first time that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Iran has increased by more than 3,000 in a single day. The daily number of new confirmed cases has set a record high for six consecutive days from the 23rd to the 28th.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in Iran increased by 139 from the previous day, reaching 2,517 (fatality rate 7.1%). The daily number of new deaths has decreased for two consecutive days following 144 on the 27th. The number of patients in severe or critical condition was counted at 3,206.

The cumulative number of recovered patients is 11,679, with a recovery rate of 33.0%.
