"I Will Serve Quietly"... Yu Seung-min Breaks Silence, Provides 'Support Fire' for Jin Soo-hee's Election

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Yoo Seung-min, a member of the Future United Party who had remained reclusive since the conservative unification, broke his silence by supporting candidate Jin Su-hee. Once mentioned as a potential chairman of the Future United Party's election committee, he expressed his intention to assist the election, saying he would serve without seeking any title.

According to the Future United Party, on the 27th, Representative Yoo visited candidate Jin's election office in Seongdong-gu and said, "I have never been the chairman of the election committee, but now that the nominations are over and the election has started, I will serve without any title and do whatever helps the candidates."

Candidate Jin is a member of the Yoo Seung-min faction, having served as the general director of Yoo's Bareun Party presidential campaign in the 2017 presidential election.

Representative Yoo said, "Whether the nominations were good or bad, now the election has started, so candidate Jin should focus on the election," adding, "Jung and Seongdong districts are very challenging for us, but I will do my best to help ensure your victory this time."

Candidate Jin responded, "When I visit the area, I meet self-employed people during my local tours, and nine out of ten say they cannot survive and ask for change," adding, "Residents who come out to the market feel the same. The grassroots sentiment strongly demands change."

She continued, "There are 6,000 households in Wangsimni New Town alone, with many young people in their 30s and 40s living there. Last night, I met with the representatives of the residents, and they said they hoped the Bareun Party would do well, which brought back some nostalgia for the Bareun Party." In response, Representative Yoo said, "I am curious about what kind of choice those people will make. Since many young centrists live there, how about greeting them together with me?"

At this meeting, candidate Jin also emphasized the role of Representative Yoo. She said, "There are many centrists in Seoul and the northern metropolitan area," and requested, "Since Representative Yoo has appeal to centrists and young people, please visit not only our campaign but also other regions." Representative Yoo replied, "If there are candidates in the metropolitan area, Seoul, Gyeonggi, or Incheon whom I can help, I will always assist them in any way I can."
