On the 28th, Kwon Jun-wook, Deputy Director of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, said at a regular briefing held at the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency in Osong, Chungbuk, "As of midnight on the 24th, it has been confirmed that 121 medical staff in the Daegu area have been infected with COVID-19."
Deputy Director Kwon added, "Among the confirmed medical personnel, there are 14 doctors, 56 nurses, and 51 nursing assistants," and "So far, among them, there is 1 critically ill patient and 1 severe patient."
He explained, "Among the 121 infected, 34 are identified as Shincheonji Church members," and "The remaining medical personnel were exposed either within medical institutions or in the local community, and a detailed analysis is underway."
He continued, "The quarantine authorities are conducting facility equipment training related to medical personnel and are doing their best to supply necessary personal protective equipment."
Meanwhile, the quarantine authorities are not separately tallying the infection status of medical personnel nationwide outside the Daegu area.
