[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Hee-eun Park] Director Mo Wan-il praised the performances of the two lead actors Kim Hee-ae and Park Hae-joon in 'The World of the Married.'
At the production presentation of JTBC's 'The World of the Married,' held online on the 26th, Director Mo Wan-il began by saying, "The two actors worked very hard."
He continued, "I think the emotional acting will be shown to an astonishing degree. While directing, I hoped the actors would perform well, but with this work, I was often surprised, wondering if it was okay to go this far," adding, "There were many times on set when I felt tense or thrilled because of the actors' performances, but I am very burdened and cautious, worried that due to my mistakes, these feelings might not be conveyed to the viewers."
Regarding the casting of the actors, Director Mo said, "Working with Kim Hee-ae is the greatest honor one can gain by choosing the profession of directing," and added, "It was not me who chose Kim Hee-ae; rather, she chose this work. I was truly happy. Finally working with her feels great, and although the work is tough, it is an emotionally good experience and a meaningful time."
He also expressed affection for Park Hae-joon, saying, "When male actors reach a certain age, they become 'ajeossi' (middle-aged men), but with Park Hae-joon, I see the image of a boy. He has purity without concern for face, manners, or formality. I think that is his charm."
Director Mo described his work by saying, "When I did 'Misty,' it felt like the character was breaking through a huge wall, but in this work, the two characters stand before a massive typhoon," emphasizing, "I hope you will be deeply immersed."
'The World of the Married' is a drama based on the British BBC's 'Doctor Foster,' dealing with a story where a married couple becomes entangled in different emotions.
