[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] "The rapidly growing 'global console game market' will become a new stage" - Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NCSoft
NCSoft will target the North American and European markets this fall with the console PC platform game 'Fuser.' As NCSoft makes its first console challenge in the North American and European markets, industry interest in 'Fuser' is also rising.
At the shareholders' meeting held on the 25th at NCSoft's R&D Center in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province, CEO Kim said, "This year, we plan to focus the company's capabilities on 'global market expansion,'" adding, "NCSoft is preparing multiple console games and is also developing games in new genres. We will expand platforms from PC to mobile and further to console, crossing boundaries to grow into a global comprehensive game company."
Fuser is a music game published by NCSoft's North American subsidiary NCWest and developed by the American music rhythm game specialist 'Harmonix.' NCWest plans to release Fuser this fall in North America and Europe on four platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Windows).
Fuser is a game where users perform by mixing various genres of music on a virtual music festival stage. Users can select songs from various genres and mix artists' vocals, bass lines, and instrument sounds to create their own unique new sound.
Users can choose to play in single mode or multiplayer mode (2 to 4 players). Using social features, they can share the sounds created in the game on various social networking services (SNS) and enjoy them together.
Fuser includes over 100 songs from various genres, including world-class artists' tracks, pop, hip-hop, dance, rock, country music, Latin, and Latin American music.
Foreign media also showed positive reactions. Fuser was first showcased in a demo version at the game show 'PAX East 2020' held in Boston, USA, on the 27th of last month. The Washington Post evaluated, "Fuser users become virtual maestros who combine various songs, perfectly mixing vocals, bass, and instrument sounds from world-class artists' hit songs into completely new sounds."
The securities industry also gave a positive outlook on NCSoft's global expansion, including Fuser. The securities sector expects NCSoft's sales to reach around 2.47 trillion won this year. Jeong Ho-yoon, a researcher at Korea Investment & Securities, said, "Various movements are being detected, such as the release of the new publishing title 'Fuser,'" adding, "It is necessary to pay attention to the fact that there will be many things to show this year, including new IP-based titles, PC and console new releases, and results from overseas business divisions."
