'Signs of Success from the Start' 7th Generation Avante, What Has Changed?

On the First Day, 10,000 Pre-Orders Raise Expectations... Leading with Design and Advanced Features

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] The initial popularity of Hyundai Motor Company's new Avante is remarkable. The 'All New Avante' achieved 10,058 pre-orders on the first day of pre-booking on the 25th alone, nearly double the average monthly sales of last year, raising expectations.

This performance is the highest record in Avante's history. The previous 6th generation model recorded 1,149 pre-orders on its first day.

The success of the new Avante is even more meaningful as it was achieved despite adverse conditions. Amid the recent sharp decline in new car demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Avante could become a spark to revive the market.

In particular, the Avante is a model with significant symbolism for Hyundai Motor Company. Just ten years ago, domestic sales of the Avante easily exceeded 130,000 units, making it a representative model. Since then, overseas sales increased, reaching 942,478 units in the global market in 2014. However, due to trends favoring large cars and the dominance of sport utility vehicles (SUVs), demand declined, and last year domestic sales dropped to 62,104 units.

The 7th generation new Avante aims for a comeback with a sportier design and advanced safety and convenience features. The exterior design of the new Avante is based on the 'Parametric Dynamics' theme, emphasizing three-dimensional sculptural beauty, while the interior design is driver-centric. The second-row legroom has been increased by 58 mm compared to the previous model, enhancing space utilization.

Features such as ‘Final Destination Guidance,’ which links the driver's smartphone location information to guide walking after getting off the vehicle, and ‘My Car Location Sharing,’ which automatically shares the vehicle's location when traveling to a registered destination, have been installed. Advanced safety devices such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW) are standard across all trims, adding to its appeal.

Hyundai plans to expand options by adding a 1.6 hybrid model and a 1.6 turbo N-line to the new Avante lineup in the future.
