1260 Replaceable Filter Cotton Masks Prepared and Delivered to Child, Youth, and Infant Teachers
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) Wolgok 2-dong has rolled up its sleeves to protect the safety of health-vulnerable children and adolescents amid a critical phase of COVID-19 community transmission.
On the 23rd and 24th, the Wolgok 2-dong Community Security Council purchased cloth masks and filters for children and adolescents who are in the blind spots of mask supply amid the ongoing mask shortage caused by the spread of COVID-19. The council members personally packaged and delivered them.
These "Good Masks" were produced in sizes suitable for children and adolescents with sponsorship funds from the local Community Security Council and an anonymous donor. A total of 1,260 masks, two per person, were provided to 530 children and teachers at 14 local daycare centers and kindergartens, as well as 100 children and adolescents from vulnerable groups.
Yoon Jae-sung, chairman of the Wolgok 2-dong Community Security Council, said, "Not only South Korea but the entire world is facing a crisis due to COVID-19. I hope we can overcome this crisis together with positive spirits and mutual support." He added, "Although this Good Mask sharing is a small act of service, it is personally very rewarding, and I hope it helps children and adolescents who are struggling due to COVID-19."
Wolgok 2-dong plans and operates various specialized projects such as the "Growing Children and Adolescents Support Project with the Village Community," "Career Support Project," and "Customized Support Project by Needs" to help children and adolescents grow into healthy members of society. The recent Good Mask support was also promoted as part of these efforts.
In these challenging times of the global COVID-19 pandemic, small acts of kindness at the community level, like those in Wolgok 2-dong, provide courage and hope to overcome difficult periods together.
