During City Council Inquiry, Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin Leaves, Apologizes "I Am Very Lacking"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu, apologized for leaving during the Daegu City Council's extraordinary session, saying, "I am lacking a lot."

On the 26th, at a regular briefing on the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Mayor Kwon said, "There are many times when I am not in my right mind. My body is almost at its limit," and added, "I have been living on a field bed in the office for over 30 days, so I am mentally very tired. I ask for your understanding."

During the extraordinary session held on the 25th, Mayor Kwon left the meeting room while Democratic Party city councilor Lee Jin-ryeon was urging the prompt execution of emergency livelihood support for COVID-19 response.

At the session that day, Democratic Party city councilors pressured Mayor Kwon by holding placards saying "Immediately execute emergency disaster funds."

Attending the Daegu City Council, Mayor Kwon left the main meeting hall during his speech after Lee Jin-ryeon requested a procedural speech to criticize him following his proposal explanation.

Mayor Kwon is scheduled to attend the second plenary session of the extraordinary city council meeting held that afternoon.
