[Asia Economy Reporter Shinwon Yoon] Hankuk University of Foreign Studies has decided to exclude a professor who accidentally exposed pornographic material on the class screen viewed by students during an online lecture from teaching. The university plans to investigate the circumstances of the incident and then decide on disciplinary action.
In a pre-recorded lecture video of Professor A, released on the 25th, a KakaoTalk chat window containing pornographic material was clearly visible. Although the video sent by another person was not played, students were inadvertently exposed to the pornographic content.
The Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Student Council issued a statement on the same day, saying, "(Professor A) does not recognize the seriousness of the matter, dismisses it as a mistake, and minimizes responsibility," and demanded, "We strongly condemn Professor A for neglecting professional and moral duties and demand a sincere apology for the harm caused to students."
In response, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies excluded Professor A from teaching and replaced the instructor on the 26th. A university official stated, "Considering the gravity of the matter, we judged that it is difficult for Professor A to continue the class," and added, "We will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and decide on disciplinary measures against Professor A."
