[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 26th that it is recruiting small libraries to participate in the ‘2020 Small Library Activation Support Project’ until the 3rd of next month to promote local reading culture and create a reading atmosphere.
The applicants are public and private small libraries registered in Buk-gu, and the types of applications are divided into four categories according to the characteristics of each library: ▲General type ▲Village community type ▲Hub type ▲Specialized type.
Buk-gu will select through screening and support up to 12 million KRW per library for book purchase costs, volunteer expenses, program and club operation costs, investing a total project budget of 285 million KRW by November.
Applications for the project can be submitted by visiting Unam Library, or by mail or email, referring to the Buk-gu Office website.
Meanwhile, Buk-gu was selected for the third consecutive year in the ‘Small Library Circulating Librarian Support Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 6th of this month.
Accordingly, to secure professionalism in small library operations and establish a cooperative system between public libraries and small libraries, from next month until November, three circulating librarians will be dispatched to support overall library operations such as organizing materials and planning and operating reading culture programs.
Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, said, “We will continue to secure the professionalism of small libraries so that local residents can easily enjoy the benefits of reading culture services.”
