Hampyeong-gun Encourages Residents to Participate in 'Social Distancing'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hampyeong-gun, Jeonnam, has encouraged the voluntary participation of all residents in the ‘social distancing’ campaign.

On the 26th, according to Hampyeong-gun, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters requested that all citizens refrain from going out and face-to-face contact as much as possible during the strengthened ‘social distancing’ measures, which will be in effect until the 5th of next month.

They also recommended a 15-day suspension of operations for religious facilities and entertainment establishments with a high risk of group infections, and strongly urged strict compliance with related preventive measures such as disinfection and quarantine if operation is unavoidable.

Accordingly, the county has strengthened social distancing publicity using banners and electronic display boards throughout the county office buildings, including each eup and myeon office, and major downtown areas.

They are also continuously encouraging voluntary cooperation from local residents through village broadcasts and individual text messages.

In particular, related notices containing compliance requirements were sent as a first step to all 92 religious facilities and 9 entertainment bars in high-risk areas for group infections. A dedicated public official will be assigned to each facility to conduct regular on-site inspections.

For violating facilities that fail to comply with industry-specific requirements, administrative orders such as assembly bans will be issued in cooperation with related agencies including the police, and fines and claims for damages will be actively enforced in case of confirmed cases.

Na Yunsu, Acting Mayor of Hampyeong-gun, said, “Nationwide participation in social distancing is the best existing quarantine activity,” and added, “Although these are difficult and challenging times for everyone, we ask all residents to actively participate in this measure to regain our daily lives.”
