The COVID-19 Epidemiological Investigation Support System utilized the data hub of the 'Smart City Innovation Growth Engine Project' created by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation. It analyzes data such as the confirmed patient's location and payment history in real time to track the patient's movement and identify the transmission routes.
The epidemiological investigation analysis of COVID-19 confirmed patients follows a process where the Minister of Health and Welfare, the National Police Agency, 18 local police agencies, and the relevant police stations request data from telecommunications companies according to the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act. This process can take up to 24 hours. By using the epidemiological investigation support system, it can be processed within 10 minutes through an online system. It is expected to help manage confirmed patients and prevent transmission.
