DG-hosted Live Streaming Concert... Cho Seongjin Also Performs Schubert Lieder Online on the Same Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Deutsche Grammophon (DG), the world-renowned classical label under Universal Music, will hold a free online concert on the 28th to celebrate World Piano Day.
Starting at 11 PM (KST) on the 28th, DG will stream a live performance featuring world-class pianists through its official YouTube channel and Facebook.
Nine pianists have been confirmed to appear. They include Vikingur Olafsson, who is about to release his new album 'Debussy·Rameau' in Korea, Beethoven expert Rudolf Buchbinder, who recently released the 'Diabelli Project' commemorating Beethoven's 250th birthday, as well as Maria Jo?o Pires, Evgeny Kissin, Jan Lisiecki, Joop Beving, Simon Trp?eski, Kit Armstrong, and Daniil Trifonov. Each will perform a 20-30 minute recital recorded on a smartphone from their own homes. Universal Music also stated that more world-class artists may participate beyond these nine pianists.
Universal Music Korea said, "Although it is very unfortunate that many concerts and events in Korea have been canceled, we hope this live streaming concert will serve as an opportunity to introduce good music to even more people." They added, "In particular, this live streaming concert is not a one-time event but is being actively promoted as a series."
Meanwhile, Universal Music also announced that their pianist Seong-Jin Cho will hold an online streaming concert on the same day starting at 10 PM (KST). Seong-Jin Cho will perform Schubert songs with baritone Matthias Goerne.
Seong-Jin Cho’s online concert is part of the 'Stage at Home' series hosted by Germany’s Oval Media and, unlike DG’s online concert, it is a paid event. Admission costs 7.9 euros (approximately 10,500 KRW).
