[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Doosan Yeon-gang Foundation is providing a special scholarship fund of 300 million KRW to middle and high school students in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, which have been declared special disaster areas due to the damage caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 26th, the Doosan Yeon-gang Foundation announced that it will provide a special scholarship fund of 300 million KRW to 300 middle and high school students in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. The scholarships will be distributed to the students through the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education.
The Doosan Yeon-gang Foundation has been supporting students in areas affected by natural disasters such as floods and typhoons since 2006. According to the foundation, it has provided a total of 850 million KRW in special disaster scholarships to 1,050 students to date.
Chairman Yong-hyun Park said, “I hope this will help students in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, who have suffered greater damage compared to other areas, to continue their studies in a safe environment, even if only a little.”
