Nationwide Driver's License Test Centers Temporarily Suspend 'Saturday Special Tests' on April 11

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] The Korea Road Traffic Authority announced on the 26th that it has decided to temporarily suspend the 'Saturday Special Duty at Driver's License Test Centers (Saturday Special Test)' scheduled for the 11th of next month to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

The Authority has been conducting the Saturday Special Test once a month at 19 driver's license test centers nationwide to provide convenience to applicants who find it difficult to make time on weekdays. However, in accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO)'s pandemic declaration and the government's strengthened 'social distancing' policy, it decided to temporarily suspend the tests for safety reasons.

The Authority has announced this on the 'Safe Driving Integrated Civil Service' website and each test center's homepage, and is informing applicants who have reserved tests about the postponement via text messages and phone calls.

Additionally, to minimize infection among applicants, the Authority is operating on weekdays at 30-50% reduced capacity compared to the usual license tests, and is restricting entry to all visitors at the driver's license test centers if they are not wearing masks.

Im Dongjeong, Deputy Director of the License Test Division at the Authority, said, "The Saturday Special Test may also change depending on the spread of infectious diseases in the future," and added, "We ask those visiting the driver's license test centers to be sure to check in advance."

For more details, please contact the Korea Road Traffic Authority Customer Support Center (1577-1120) or any driver's license test center nationwide.
