Gyeonggi-do Launches TF for Full Taxi Fare Management System

Gyeonggi-do Launches TF for Full Taxi Fare Management System

[Asia Economy (Uijeongbu) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will operate a task force (TF) until May 20 to ensure the proper establishment of the 'Taxi Full Management System' introduced nationwide this year.

The Taxi Full Management System was introduced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on January 1, replacing the existing deposit system to prevent excessive labor of taxi drivers and improve their treatment. It applies to 1,373 corporate taxi companies nationwide, excluding military areas.

Unlike the previous deposit system where drivers paid a fixed deposit amount and took the remainder, under this system, drivers pay all transportation revenue to the company and receive wages in the form of a salary.

Even if the transportation revenue falls below the standard, no deductions are made from the wages.

In Gyeonggi Province, 188 out of 192 corporate taxi companies, excluding military areas, are subject to this system.

Gyeonggi Province plans to oversee the implementation status by region through the 'Taxi Full Management TF' and manage and supervise companies to prevent non-compliance or illicit practices.

Centered on the TF, Gyeonggi Province will strengthen cooperation with local governments and produce and distribute detailed manuals that companies must strictly follow.

Additionally, joint investigations will be conducted to check for violations, and companies found to be in violation will face penalties such as fines and referrals to the Ministry of Employment and Labor for investigation.

Park Tae-hwan, Director of the Transportation Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, said, "We will ensure the early establishment of the full management system to improve working conditions for transportation workers and enhance taxi services," adding, "We will cooperate with related agencies through joint inspections to stabilize the system as soon as possible."
