[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] The first episode of KBS2's Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Welcome' aired on the 25th, recording a viewership rating of 3.6% (Nielsen Korea nationwide standard), marking a fresh 'start.'
'Welcome' is a subtle companion romance drama about a cat who turns into a man and a dog-like woman, starring rookie actress Shin Ye-eun and Kim Myung-soo, formerly of the idol group 'Infinite.' The drama is based on a webtoon.
In the episode, the pure white cat was Hongjo (played by Kim Myung-soo), who remembered the moment he transformed into a human like a dream.
At first, Hongjo was left in the care of Lee Jae-seon (played by Seo Ji-hoon), who was in a romantic relationship with the previous owner, but Lee Jae-seon could not raise Hongjo due to severe cat allergies and asked his friend Go Doo-sik (played by Kang Hoon) for help. However, Go Doo-sik faced strong opposition from his family, who run a grilled fish restaurant, and eventually, Kim Sol-ah (played by Shin Ye-eun), unable to ignore Lee Jae-seon's cat allergy, took Hongjo in.
Although Kim Sol-ah disliked cats, she reluctantly let Hongjo into her home out of concern for Lee Jae-seon and remained cautious. Hongjo was surprised to see himself transform into a human man as soon as he entered Kim Sol-ah's house.
However, the moment of enjoying the miraculous freedom of opening the door with human hands and breathing in the outside air was short-lived, as Hongjo transformed back into a cat. While wandering the streets pondering what causes him to turn into a human, he discovered that he transformed into a human the moment he met Kim Sol-ah.
The ending featured a 'one bed two shot' of Hongjo, now a man staring intently at Kim Sol-ah, who was sleeping comfortably, heightening curiosity about how this subtle connection will unfold.
