[Public Official Assets] Choi Nam-il, Gangnam District Council Member, Assets 21.2 Billion KRW ... 2.5 Billion KRW Increase from Previous Year


[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Among the 418 district council members of Seoul and 14 heads of public-related organizations under the city, the wealthiest was Choi Nam-il, a council member of Gangnam-gu.


According to the 2020 regular property change report disclosed by the Seoul Public Officials Ethics Committee on the 26th, as of the end of last year, Councilor Choi's assets amounted to 21,267,020,000 KRW. He ranked first among major public officials in Seoul and fourth among all public officials nationwide who disclosed their assets.


There was a significant gap with the 2nd and 3rd places, Lee Hyun-mi of Yongsan-gu with 8,348,710,000 KRW and Hwang Young-ho of Gangseo-gu with 6,579,110,000 KRW.


Following them were Seo Hoe-won of Gangdong-gu (6,264,890,000 KRW), Lee Hyang-sook of Gangnam-gu (6,094,960,000 KRW), Choi Jong-bae of Seocho-gu (5,583,530,000 KRW), Lee Mi-yeon of Dongjak-gu (5,490,930,000 KRW), Hwang Geum-seon of Yongsan-gu (5,031,960,000 KRW), Yoo Young-joo of Yangcheon-gu (4,576,930,000 KRW), and Kim Jeong-yeol of Songpa-gu (4,438,060,000 KRW), all ranking within the top 10.


Among the heads of public-related organizations affiliated with Seoul's investment and contribution institutions, Choi Kyung-ran, CEO of the Seoul Design Foundation, registered the highest assets at 6,915,430,000 KRW.


Following her were Kim Se-yong, President of Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation, with 5,190,000,000 KRW; Jang Young-seung, CEO of Seoul Business Agency, with 3,384,470,000 KRW; Kim Min-young, Chairman of the 120 Dasan Call Foundation, with 2,764,620,000 KRW; and Kang Eun-kyung, CEO of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, with 1,985,800,000 KRW.


The distribution of assets among the 432 Seoul district council members and heads of public-related organizations was as follows: under 100 million KRW - 35 people (8.1%), 100 million to 500 million KRW - 133 people (30.8%), 500 million to 1 billion KRW - 123 people (28.4%), 1 billion to 2 billion KRW - 84 people (19.5%), and over 2 billion KRW - 57 people (13.2%).


Compared to previous disclosures, 280 people (64.8%) saw an increase in their assets, while 152 people (35.2%) experienced a decrease.


The average assets of the 432 individuals were 1,094,000,000 KRW, an increase of about 88,000,000 KRW from the previous report.
