[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] Gahye, a former member of the group After School, who sparked controversy by posting photos of outings at the beach with her children during self-quarantine, has deleted the related posts and posted an explanation.
On the 23rd, Gahye wrote on her Instagram, "I recently posted photos of going to the sea with my children after a long time. But some people say, 'What sea during these times?' and accuse me of using the children as an excuse," adding, "My husband told me to delete the post, so I sighed and deleted it, but I want to say something, so I am writing this."
She continued, "We live in Bali," and explained, "I mustered up courage for a short time in Korea and went to the park in front of our house with the children. We chose times when there were no people and went out even though the sun was hot. Interestingly, my children's runny noses and coughs completely disappeared."
She further explained, "Seeing the children’s colds go away while they played under the sunlight and touched the sand, I felt the power of nature," and added, "It was just a parent's heart."
Earlier, on the 19th, Gahye shared photos enjoying an outing at the beach with her children, writing, "We were sick for a while, and with the new coronavirus being a problem, I took courage during self-quarantine to come to the sea for the children," and "Seeing the children who love it so much made my heart ache."
However, some netizens criticized Gahye, saying, "It is reckless to go out with children during self-quarantine." As the controversy spread, Gahye deleted the post and photos.
