Jungnang-gu Supports Installation of Recycling Bins in Urban-Type Residential Housing

Free Provision of Recycling Bins for Urban Housing Types such as One-Room, Row Houses, and Multi-Family Houses... Recycling Bins Classified into ▲Metal ▲Glass ▲Plastic ▲Clear PET Bottles ▲Vinyl (5 Types)

Jungnang-gu Supports Installation of Recycling Bins in Urban-Type Residential Housing Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, is cleaning the alley with residents in Sinnae 1-dong on September 7, 2018.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will provide additional supplies such as recycling bins and collection plastic bags to 80 urban-type residential complexes (one-room, row houses, multi-family houses, etc.) with more than 10 households to increase the recycling separation rate and create a pleasant living environment.

Also, following the separate collection of waste vinyl and waste PET bottles starting from February 2020, the recycling bins, which were previously provided in 4 categories (▲metal cans and bottles ▲plastic ▲paper ▲vinyl), will be changed and produced into 5 categories (▲metal ▲bottles ▲plastic ▲colorless PET bottles ▲vinyl) and distributed accordingly.

Applicants must be urban-type residential complexes with more than 10 households such as one-room, row houses, or multi-family houses in the area. After designating a dedicated manager for each building, they can visit the local community service center to fill out and submit the application form.

After receiving applications, the district will investigate the housing type, whether a manager has been designated, and the availability of installation space, and select target sites on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more details, contact the Jungnang-gu Office Cleaning Administration Division or the local community service center.

In addition, since urban-type residential complexes (one-room, row houses, multi-family houses, etc.) are not as well equipped with separation and disposal systems compared to collective housing (apartments, etc.), mixed disposal of recyclables and household waste or illegal dumping frequently occurs, causing odor problems. To solve this, since 2018, the district has continuously promoted a project to support the installation of recycling bins for urban-type residential complexes, achieving positive effects such as increased resource recycling rates, inducing selective disposal, and improving collection and processing efficiency.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “Through this urban-type residential complex recycling bin installation project, we expect to improve recycling collection efficiency and also achieve urban aesthetics improvement.” He added, “We ask for active participation and cooperation from residents to create a clean Jungnang.”
