Kim Dong-wan, Lee Dong-ha, Lee Jin-hee to Star in Domestic Premiere of 'Leungs' Opening May 9

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The theater production company Yeongeuk Yeoljeon announced the casting for the play 'Lungs,' which opens on May 9, on the 23rd.

'Lungs' is a work by British playwright Duncan Macmillan, which premiered in Washington, USA, in 2011. Since then, it has been performed in the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, Slovenia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Ireland, and other countries, and this is its first performance in Korea. It is the first of five works presented through Yeongeuk Yeoljeon's planned performance series Yeongeuk Yeoljeon 8.

'Lungs' is a two-person play about a young couple starting their married life. This couple approaches everything seriously and thoughtfully. They also hold the belief that actions should be taken with at least good intentions. Therefore, even before their marriage, they contemplate various issues about the world beyond simply being a family living together.

The couple in 'Lungs' continuously engage in conversations throughout their lives about their emotions, having children, the environment and the world around them, and even the Earth we live on, or at least about having good intentions. Even at the blessed moment of having a baby, they consider the impact of that choice on the Earth. Through the two protagonists, the play raises questions about how individual choices affect the planet and conveys the message that ultimately, in any situation, what matters most is 'love.'

The direction is by Park So-young, who has shown delicate direction across various performance genres including the play 'Pride and Prejudice,' the musical play 'Taeil,' and the musical 'The Goddess is Watching.'

Actors Kim Dong-wan, Lee Dong-ha, and Sung Doo-seop will play the male roles, while Lee Jin-hee and Kwak Sun-young will appear in the female roles.

'Lungs' will open on May 9 at Art One Theater 2 in Daehangno, and tickets will go on sale through Interpark starting March 30.
